Plants that changed the world

Starting with plants known in the ancient world, we progress to examine plants that have driven - and still do drive - global economies. Discussion will take in the most pernicious and economically-dangerous weeds. A session on medicinal plants will be countered by consideration of the unhealthy issues of sugar. We will also address the global importance of tea and coffee, and the staples of life: rice, wheat and potatoes.
