Exploring contemporary non-fiction

Contemporary non-fiction is a dynamic and varied genre, spanning travel and nature writing, true crime, memoir and reportage. On this course we will read award-winning books from five different sub-genres of non-fiction and explore how they use voice, setting, narrative structure and evidence to create rich worlds and tense stories. Authors include Bruce Chatwin, Helen Garner, Joan Didion, Chloe Dalton and John Berendt.
