International Summer Programme

For a student with a background in science and archaeology, the University of Cambridge International Summer Programme offered something truly special: a chance to deepen existing knowledge while discovering new perspectives in a vibrant academic setting.

“I first heard about the Summer Programme from friends who had attended and couldn’t stop talking about it,” she said. “Their enthusiasm was contagious, and I knew I wanted to experience it for myself.”

The decision to attend was richly rewarding. “It was a wonderful experience. I thoroughly enjoyed both subjects I chose. The lectures helped me build on what I already knew, while introducing me to the latest research and discoveries. The plenary sessions were especially varied and thought-provoking.”

The academic environment was both rigorous and inclusive. “The tutor-led sessions were excellent. Participants came from all over the world and from many different walks of life, yet everyone was engaged and eager to learn. The tutors were brilliant at making sure everyone felt included. The quality of teaching and presentation was outstanding.”

While the programme wasn’t intended to advance her career, it offered something equally valuable: intellectual enrichment and connection. “It was more about the joy of learning and sharing that experience with like-minded people,” she said. “Meeting new friends and exploring familiar topics in greater depth made it all worthwhile.”

Her advice to future students? “Absolutely apply. Choose subjects you’re genuinely curious about or excited to explore. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff are incredibly supportive, and the whole experience is just a different, joyful way to learn.”

For this science and archaeology enthusiast, the Summer Programme was more than a week of study, it was a week of memories made in a truly special place. “It went by far too quickly, but it’s something I’ll always treasure.”
